Repointing in Cheadle

Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme and Gatley are mostly inter-war and 1950s semis and detached houses — red and buff brick, often with a rendered first floor and brick below — and a few older Victorian and Edwardian streets near the village centres. The brick-below-render arrangement causes a specific problem: water runs off the render onto the brick pointing, which fails first along that line.

We repoint the brick, sort the bell-cast or drip where we can, and replace any bricks that have spalled. Cheadle village and the streets off Wilmslow Road have a conservation area. About forty-five minutes from Rochdale; most Cheadle jobs are a full front plus gable.
