Chorley's town-centre terraces around Pall Mall, Eaves Lane and the station are Victorian brick — cement repointing, neatly done — while the villages around it, Eccleston, Heath Charnock, Rivington, Whittle-le-Woods, have older stone cottages that want lime. Astley Park side has bigger Victorian houses with stone dressings.
