Repointing in Mossley

Mossley is built up the side of the Tame valley in three tiers, and the terraces on the steep streets around Micklehurst, Top Mossley and Bottom Mossley are stone — gritstone with lime joints, exactly the sort of wall that cement has been quietly ruining since the 1960s. We spend a lot of time here raking out hard grey pointing and putting lime back.

Because so many of the terraces are stepped, gables and side elevations are exposed to the weather and go first. Chimneys on the hill catch it badly. Access can be tight on the older streets; we'll say at the quote if a tower is needed. Twenty minutes from Rochdale via Oldham.
