Repointing in Swinton

Swinton and Pendlebury are mostly semi-detached: inter-war along Manchester Road and around Swinton Park, post-war council-built on the Clifton and Wardley sides. Brick throughout, cement pointing throughout, and the same faults repeated street after street — frost damage on the bricks below the damp course, hollow joints round the bay, cracked cills.

We tend to do the whole elevation rather than a patch. A patched front never quite matches and it is the neighbours' first question. The Victorian terraces near Pendlebury and Swinton town centre are older and softer brick, so the mix is weaker and the joint brushed rather than tooled.
