Repointing in Farnworth

Farnworth, Kearsley and Little Lever between them have some of the most exposed brick terraces in the Bolton area — long straight streets around Harper Green, Plodder Lane and Market Street where the weather comes straight up the Irwell valley at the gable ends. These are Accrington-type bricks that don't like a hard mortar, so we keep the mix appropriate and the joint finished neatly rather than smeared.

Kearsley and Little Lever have more of the inter-war semis, plus a fair few stone cottages near the river and the old collieries that need lime rather than cement. Chimneys across the three towns are frequently in worse shape than the walls below. Twenty-five minutes from Rochdale.
